At the end of three years of study, the student is expected to :

  • Have the aptitude, knowledge and skill necessary for assessing nursing needs of the individuals throughout the life-cycle, families and communities.
  • Apply relevant knowledge from biological and behavioural sciences in planning and carrying out safe nursing care activities.
  • co-operate with other members of the health team in the hospital or in the community in prevention of disease, promotion of health, restoration of health and rehabilitation.
  • impart health knowledge to individuals and groups through health education.
  • Demonstrate skill in the use of problem solving methods in nursing practice.
  • Demonstrate ability to supervise and guide auxiliary personnel who are part of the nursing team.
  • Demonstrate understanding of and commitment to professional behaviour.
  • Carry out the above in the true spirit of service to fellowmen and be committed to the welfare of our country.

BASIC B.SC. NURSING(B.SC. NURSING)

This programme of study leads to a Basic B.Sc. Nursing degree of the Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences with an in take of 60 seats.

DIPLOMA IN PHARMACY (D. PHARMACY)

Diploma in Pharmacy, popularly known as D. PHARM is a two-year undergraduate diploma course offered by pharmacy colleges in India. The course is the minimum qualification to become a registered pharmacist in the country. Candidates having passed 10+2 exam or equivalent examination with Physics, Chemistry, Maths or Biology can eligible to pursue D. PHARM.

D. PHARM doesn't provide specialization to choose from; only the basic concepts of pharmaceutical science are taught in this course. After successfully completing two years of D. PHARM and after registering with Pharmacy Council of India (PCI) or the state Pharmacy Council, one can set up his/her own pharmacy/chemist, in order to stock and sell medicines and dispense them according to a registered medical practitioner's prescription. One can also become medical representative after pursuing the course.

Practical Training : After passing Second Year D. PHARM Examination the student shall undergo compulsory practical training of 500 Hours over a period of 3 months at approved Hospital / Pharmacy.

Results : Student shall secure a minimum of 40% marks to pass, minimum of 50% marks for second class, minimum of 60% marks for first class and minimum of 75% marks for distinction.
